Official event poster |
Another talk session was organized by the Office of the Guidance and Students Affairs together with the Senior High School department that aims to cultivate the mind of the students and widen their perspective horizon regarding these sensitive yet normalized issues: love and sex. The event was critically planned, especially the topic that will be discussed. The organizers made sure that the concepts included will create an impact on how the students perceive love, sex, and dating since the day of the hearts is fast approaching. The event happened in three separate dates with different sets of spectators; The grade 11 students of AMA Makati Senior High was the first batch to witness the series of talks that happened last February 4. Followed by the Grade 12 students of the same school that was delivered last February 5. The final event was given to the grade 10 students of Bangkal High School. The diversity of the audience was a challenge to the speakers since they tend to modify the words and techniques upon delivering the talk. An adjustment was also made due to sensitivity consideration. The sequence of events was planned according to complexity and practicality;
The first session of the event is a 40-minute documentary film that features the anatomy and physiology of the human sex organs. Their complex function and interaction with the different parts of the human body. It also provides a clear visualization of how arousal occurs at any particular time. This is for the students to understand that such behaviors are normal and expected to happen during puberty. The organizers believed that when this kind of topic is not delivered properly, it might lead to confusion and ignorance. The film also shows the journey of the egg cell through the fallopian tube together with a creative visualization of the reason behind menstruation. It also features the journey of the sperm cell from the man's scrotum to finding its way to the egg. The last part of the video shows the miracle of life, the process by how a fertilized egg (zygote) turns into a fully developed fetus. The reaction of the students is hilarious when the video shows the actual footage of how newborn baby is delivered thru the woman's vagina.

Ms. Krisha Ann Amador - AMA Computer College Makati OSA Specialist - presented her lecture entitled "
Adolescents and Healthy Sexuality: Self-Respect and Self-Control" - the third part of the event. Her talk focuses on human psychology, specifically on knowing the normal growth and development of the human person. The address is about Erik Erikson's Psychosocial Theory that discusses the eight stages of growth and development and how dysfunctions in the family impede such growth. In addition, she relates the consequence and virtue attained - as the child grows up - to the current social stage of the audience. The speech also includes the characteristics of dysfunctional families and the basic emotional needs of a person, to help them understand the importance of such satisfaction to one's emotion. She ended her presentation by discussing how to understand adolescent psychosexual behavior and ho to enhance self-respect and self-control.

Ronald Michael Quijano talking about love, sex, and philosophy |
The final part of the disquisition was delivered by Mr. Ronald Michael Quijano, the Senior High School Head of AMA Computer College Makati. His discussion entitled
"Love, Sex, and Philosophy" focused on the harmful ideas of romanticism. He uses the concept of philosophy in solving and recreating the formula of love. The final discourse shows the harmful assumptions of romanticism in the concept of love delivered through creative narratives. He explains that our society is continuously poisoned by such an idea that seems beautiful but only effective in the short term. He argued that such a concept will never work in a long term relationship. He ends the discussion by giving reasonable and practical tips on becoming emotionally mature, reasons why we choose the wrong partners, how to choose a partner wisely, and why should we expect less of love. The event ended with a resounding guide of loving wisely;
Charity, Imagination, Kindness, Forgiveness, Loyalty, Generosity, and Patience.
