[FEATURE] Inter-School 3x3 Basketball League

INTER – SCHOOL 3X3

On February 8, 2020, Saturday, the 3x3 Basketball league men's division starts with a deafening roar of students coming from different schools in the City of Makati. The event was held at the Barangay Bangkal Basketball Court.  Everyone gathered to witness the star players coming from various schools to play a 3 versus 3 basketball competition organized by the AMA Computer College, Makati. Last 2018, the AMA Computer College Makati launched the same sports event that will bring recreational activities into focus aiming the grade 10 students from different schools and experience balance sportsmanship. The event also aims to spread the importance of an active lifestyle by playing basketball. According to Mr. Arvin Selda - Admission supervisor of AMA MAKATI - the event will help the grade 10 students within the community to pursue their dreams of becoming a better Basketball player. AMA Makati also promotes a balance between academics and sports. The event would not be possible without the help of the following; Mr. Arvin Selda, Grade 12 interns from various strands, Mr. Leonardo Adaptar, Ms. Krisha Ann Amador, Coach Yong Catequista, and the students of AMA UNIVERSITY PDAB.

The first phase of the event introduced the players in a small parade. Participants are wearing a customized shirt showing the school they are representing.  Their representatives are obviously prepared for the league. After the parade, the players became more competitive and stronger, it seems that the orientation and drilling did by Coach Yong

Catequista - who’s known as the "Killer Coach" - inspired the players with his own skills in basketball. One of his star players named Xavier demonstrates the basics of basketball in passing, dribbling, and shooting.

3x3 League Basketball workshop by Coach Yong

The Game became fiery in the eyes of fans and players. Determined to bring home the bacon, everyone seems to be breaking out in a cold sweat. As the game becomes tenser, the people and supporters from different schools are rooting loudly. After the competition comes to an end, the following were hailed as winners;

CHAMPION - San Isidro High School 

Runner–up - General Pio Del Pilar National High School

A medal is given to all participants as a sign of recognizing their effort to compete and play with fairness and dignity. All participants are also given a 50% admission fee with a reserved slot. The experiencing of 3x3 interleague basketball puts a smile on their faces, knowing each other individually and building camaraderie is a great encounter for all. This event is part of the AMA Education System's campaign towards healthy and balanced student life, in line with their promotion of blended learning which is being experienced by the Senior High School and College students through 3 school days only. The goal is to spend time with the student's hobbies, work, friends, and families.
